Second Linked Open Citation Database (LOC-DB) workshop
We are pleased to invite you to the second and final workshop of the DFG project Linked Open Citation Database
The project LOC-DB has developed a software system with which citations from printed and electronic media are semi-automatically detected and linked with existing metadata. The resulting open citation data can be reused in library applications as well as beyond. Project partners are the German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence Kaiserslautern, the University of Media Stuttgart, the University Library Mannheim and the ZBW – Leibniz Information Center for Economics.
The workshop introduces the current beta version of the LOC-DB software and presents the criteria and preliminary results of an evaluation of the system. In addition, various application scenarios in the context of Specialised Information Services and science evaluation are shown. In a practical part, the participants have the opportunity to test workflows and data quality of LOC-DB themselves. Developers can experiment with the integration of new metadata sources and the configuration of the automatic reference extraction.
The one-day workshop will take place on 6 November 2018 in Mannheim Castle (Fuchs Petrolub Room O138) and is free of charge for the participants. The workshop will mainly be conducted in German, individual lectures will be in English.
To register, please send a short e-mail by October 26, 2018 stating your contact details to locdb [at] mail.uni-mannheim.de.
